so im currently sick of the crap that the mmorpg industry is currently putting out. maybe mmorts is what im looking for (players can affect the world!). i have some questions

will there be a persistent world which players can build their cities on?

can these cities be destroyed by other players and vice versa?

what happens to these cities when players log out (cant they be destroyed, can you set npc to defend)?

i really hope this game isnt some lame instanced carebear fest

also; can i have a beta key if there are any available?

Heya! Welcome to the forums! :)

will there be a persistent world which players can build their cities on?
Yup. Your kingdom will remain virtually as you left it the last time you changed. Your units will still be spaced how you had them, any techs you researched will carry over, and your customized stronghold will be just as you left it, awaiting your command. However - your economy and resource will continue to grow, as will anything you tasked before signing out. Even when a player is offline, their homeland will still be in development with the worker units still gathering resources and finishing constructing any buildings tasked shortly before logging off. Although, the gathering, construction, and training rates are significantly slower than in the fast-paced Skirmish modes.

can these cities be destroyed by other players and vice versa?
Not in the multiplayer online kingdom mode. Cities can be sieged and a successful conqueror will be able to loot the sieged city, but the town will remian in the hands of its owner who can repair its walls and buildings and retrain troops - although this costs a significant amount of resources. In the single-player Kingdom Wars mode, players can control conquered cities, allowing them to manage a multitude of strongholds and armies of every race.

what happens to these cities when players log out (cant they be destroyed, can you set npc to defend)?
A player's city cannot be attacked when they are offline.

i really hope this game isnt some lame instanced carebear fest
In an MMORTS, there's no way around instancing maps given the size of the game world and of individual strongholds and armies. But all of these instances are connected through the 3D World Map. Instances allow you to 'zoom in' from the world map to view traveling armies in foreign regions, enter player or NPC towns, or to set up army camps.

thanks for the quick response

one more question;

is it possible to have more than one player city? or is it possible to expand your city in terms of physical size?

Each player gets 4 slots for his towns. He can't log into them at the same time but can play each of them online.

What do yo mean by 4 slots? A little confused, sorry.
Thanks

I think what this means is that, like in MMOs that give you several character slots, you can have multiple cities but can't play them at the same time. So for example you can have both a human city and an elven city, but you can only log into one at any time.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Good to hear that you're safe while offline, I'd hate to log out, eat dinner, and come back to find out that my kingdom is suddenly a giant bonfire.

I am so glad the development team steps down into the forums to answer questions, it is a great morale booster and really helps you become personal with the title.

Some additional questions.

Do we know how city trading will work?

Is there a type of level up, or is it growing and size.

I've read about a king unit, will they be customizable?

What do we know about the race interactions? (IE do all elves hate orcs ect)

Has anything been announced for quests that will take teamwork to complete?

And lastly relationships. Is it going to be a diplomacy type feature, or a normal Friends list Guild type system?
