My dad absolutely loves the books and I thought the trailers for the show looked pretty cool. Has the first episode even aired though?

04-12-2011, 04:24 AM

04-12-2011, 09:59 AM

I read the books and watched the first episode. It has the makings of a good series, the actors are all getting their roles down, not 100% awesome yet. But the magic is there, excellent casting, especially for Tyrion Lannister ( a personal deal breaker for me if they did a horrible casting job).
"boromir" as eddard is taking some getting used to (reprogram already brain!), but this guy is great at this sort of role. The only part I didn't like was the pace of the series. It seemed to jump deep into the story before the characters had enough "face time" with the audience. I hope this pace will only mean they will cover more of the details of the book series. I am looking forward to more episodes!

I saw the advert for the TV show recently but wasn't going to bother watching it. Then my friend was talking Swedish and the only bit I could make out of the conversation was "game of thrones" ... might give it a watch!

So far the show seems interesting

05-04-2011, 04:47 PM
Yes, I have it set to record, I love it so far, Sean Bean has done a hellova job filling in as a King of the Northern people. Its a great show. Also I like the fact that they brought on Jason Momoa, who, if you watched Stargate Atlantis...hes Ronon Dex, the bad*** with the Energy Revolver. Hes a great actor and now they make him this savage-king like guy with many followers. But yes, great show thus far.

love the show, thinking about getting the books, but not sure if they are a good read after watching the show

Sean Bean FTW!!!

love the show, thinking about getting the books, but not sure if they are a good read after watching the show

The show cannot go into the depth that the books go into, though they seem to be doing a fairly good job at it. I think it is definitely worthwhile to read the books and watch the series.

The show is just great! i've watched all 4 episodes so far and it is awsome! A friend of mine that has read all the books so far told me that this far they are around 80% according to the book. Today arrived the 1st book also i ordered from amazon.

05-12-2011, 04:13 PM
yep great show i love it.

05-12-2011, 10:56 PM
loved the casting for samwell Tarly...what a funny guy! I think the show does a better job of bringing the humor out in this character, the books had him as "sorta" funny. Definately one of my new favorite characters.

The TV series is amassing, and its true the series does give justice to the books.

05-23-2011, 02:38 PM
i never read the books but the TV show is absolutely brilliant!!! the casting has been stella, whoever did the casting for the show did one hell of a job!! and its getting high ratings aswell, the fact that its on HBO means it shouldn't get cancellled like every other show on ABC does.

I'm really exciting about seeing what the white walkers do, or whoever they are north of the wall.. i think the sh!t is really gonna hit the fan, i cant wait haha

I haven't read the books but I started watching the show last night. I love it. The setting is great.

Awesome series, that's all I got to say!

06-06-2011, 06:28 PM
From what I Understand the actors playing Tyrion (the Imp) and Ned Stark are the people George R. R. Martin (the author) always envisioned playing the parts, he was super excited when both got called with offers for the parts and accepted immediately.

awesome show

06-07-2011, 07:42 AM
It was pretty dope but watching all the sex/violent rape was awkward with my mom sitting next to me, to say the least..

06-07-2011, 11:50 AM
This may sound wierd, but I found that the tv show followed the book a little too well. There were some things that it could have done without. Not a complaint.

Great program highly recommend to anybody

06-25-2011, 12:58 PM
The show is good to watch,

06-25-2011, 02:58 PM
Ive only watched a few episodes of it, but it seems like a very good show, i just hope that it lasts for a while and doesnt get discontinued like a lot of other good shows i liked, such as V and SGU, and ive been reading the books, seems to follow the storyline well enough.

Can't wait for the next book this July.

06-25-2011, 05:20 PM
my favorite thing to watch at the moment.

06-25-2011, 05:22 PM
best series ever, also i dont understand the rather bad rating on meta critics :[

06-25-2011, 05:27 PM
Just bought all the books last night so I can read through them. Can't stand going near online discussions and always being afraid of spoilers.

06-25-2011, 06:41 PM
That is how I was, I was terrified to click anything even remotely related to Game of thrones when I was reading them.

06-30-2011, 09:46 AM
Yeah, best series. I wait for continuation.

In under 1 day I just watched every episode... Amazing.

I mean, they left out one thing that kind of ****ed me off, The Blackfish, but other than that it followed the books pretty well. What couldn't be shown on screen, because in the book it was an internal monologue, was sometimes chopped and shown as an added scene that didn't happen in the literature. All my favorite characters kicked the appropriate amount of ass, it had plenty of nudity, Tyrion Lannister is amazing, they had Shagga, Joffrey was as much of a prick as he was in the books (He even looked like someone I wanted to punch in the face)... all in all I am happy.

My only hope, is that if they continue the series on, that it continues to hold up. I just read an interview with the author in which he said if they did continue the series they might make the third book into 2 seasons, which seems to tell me that they are Trying to do this right. Heck, my only concern is that if they continue on for 5 more seasons (This is, one book a season, except for book three, which should be 2 seasons), that George RR Martin can churn out his last two books in time to make them live action TV shows as well.

All of that said, let us all be honest with each other: There is but a chance in hell that this will continue past season 2, it's expensive to make fantasy shows afterall... and the gods of TV hate fantasy and Sci-fi (Unless their British). Still, lets hope it continues to be as good as it is now, while it lasts. (Though, I am bitter, so take this last paragraph for what it is)
