I just realized that I've been posting away and having a jolly good time making all forum-friendly-like, but never really introduced myself. Doesn't seem like that big of a faux-pas around here, but just so people don't go assuming I'm some kind of elitist jerk who's too good for introductions:
Hey all. My name's Nick and I'm an applications engineer (read: code-monkey) who loves gaming in all its myriad forms. I've beta tested a couple of different games, most of which were MMORPGs, including the obligatory World of Warcraft. I jump regularly between console and PC gaming and have done a lot of research on game genres (and meta-genres) and their viability in various platforms and demographics. The MMORTS genre has recently sparked my interest, and thus, you find me here, "in ur forumz, quotin ur postz".
My RTS track record includes Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology, Caesar III, Command & Conquer: Red Alert/Tiberium Sun/Generals/Tiberium Wars, Dawn of War 1 & 2, Halo Wars, Rome: Total War, StarCraft 1 & 2, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and. Warcraft II & III. Oh, and the SimCity games and Roller Coaster Tycoon... if those really count.
Dawn of Fantasy has me intrigued as potentially the first viable MMORTS model, and I, like many of you, am hoping for a beta invite so I can see if I can't help the dev team make the most of this ambitious and impressive project.
Alright, you can all go back to your regularly scheduled forum lurking now that I've successfully eliminated "Lack of Introduction" from the list of reasons you'll classify me as an elitist jerk.
Don't worry though. I'm sure I'll accidentally give you other reasons later  .
