Given how they've described their map editor, users should be able to create this game mode. That's the advantage of a good map editor.

your not gonna put zombies in the game are you?? that wouldnt be good.

Darvin
12-06-2007, 11:48 AM
They originally considered undead as a playable race, but have decided since that they'd only be going with the four (orc, human, elf, dragon). Whether that means we won't see any undead isn't known, but there won't be a whole faction of them.

The Witch King of Angmar
12-06-2007, 02:01 PM
They may add them in the expansion. I think it would be cool to have them and it would be the right choice to put them in the expansion.

Puppeteer
12-07-2007, 01:17 PM
Zombies shouldn't be slow, half-witted lumbering carcasses... that's the idea of reanimated corpses. Zombies are infected humans, and so in my opinion shouldn't be able to control their energy use. That's why they need to eat often, for they use up monumental energy being very fast and having unlimited stanima. If there is an undead faction later on, that's what they need to include :D

Joseph Visscher
12-07-2007, 01:31 PM
I think we would have a faction more like the Dwarves rather the undead in an expansion, personally though I would just rather see more units and add-ons to the existing sides in the expansion because it is easier to balance them all.

lol not really. undead - dead person who is alive.. any way they shouldnt waste any more time with undead.

Darvin

Zombies in different mythos can be very different. In their original context, zombies are actually quite benign. They are people who are half-way between being alive and dead, and no longer have a will of their own, instead following all the commands their masters give them. Zombies aren't "contagious" or anything, nor are they inherently malevolent.

Really, a zombie is just taken to be a reanimated corpse in most fantasy mythos.

Darvin

Undead fit quite well in the RTS genre. Undead legions work well in most fantasy settings.

Therightchoice

i agree with nditition. i dont really like zombies in anything. there boring.

Puppeteer
12-15-2007, 10:03 AM
Zombies aren't boring, use the imagination! Undead has lots of scope for so many ideas! An example of a completely unique system for the Undead is that they can have a funeral pyre where unwanted legions can be turned into a fraction of their resources, or all of the buildcost if at full health! Or a necromancer standing atop an short obelisk, who when units go near more undead rise to fill up the horde/heal them etc. etc. instead of a "boring well"

I think undead should have necromancers that are able to make skeletons (or zombies) out of any corpse on the battlefield. It would be so fun remaking your army directly from the bodies of your ennemies dead soldiers.

Neotyguy40
04-18-2008, 10:39 PM
I don't get that 'feel' for undead when on an RTS... But fps's and rpg's seem to fit very well in my opinion for undead.

Puppeteer
04-19-2008, 06:31 AM
I think mobility would be a serious disadvantage for the Undead. Sure undead riders on bone horses, or black-pegasi steeds (now that's an idea, winged black horses to leap at the enemy). Vampire bats would be good aswell, fast but weak harasses.

As long as they don't take 15 minutes to get to the ennemy base, who cares about mobility. They should just be able to swarm over armies with hordes of skeletons.

Maybee a weapon size resistance (good against little things, not so good against big ones), because an ogre swinging a club or a big sword will probably annihalate the skeleton in both cases.

Yes, because skeles have a bunch of holes in them, tiny weapons such as arrows will probally miss, while a club will probally shatter them.

Puppeteer

So slashy slashy has normal effect, arrows barely any but crush attacks big. Sounds fair and balanced actually!

Actually, slashing would be low, since bones are like natural armor. I mean, who ever heard of a sword cutting through bone? Swords were only strong because it cut through flesh.

Puppeteer
04-25-2008, 01:32 PM
Umm, you can cut bone if you hit hard enough. Besides, there's balance to think of because you can't have hordes of troops only vulnerable to crush attacks, seeing as fire would have absolutely zilch effect.

Beheading is done with swords or axes, and the zombies have a weak neck link like any human.

Actually beheading is possible because the vertabreas aren't one bone, by a group of bones held by the surrounding tissue.

You're probably right, unless the dark energy that maintains them alive is coming from their heads

I hope that if it's a circuit, then it's a little bit protected because I don't want to see skeletons dying after 1 scratch.
