Hello all! After half a month of fantastic fan fiction, it's time to wrap up the contest - at least so that we can give out the second stage keys, the "contest" will still go on until July 25th for third beta stage spots. I'd like to start for thanking everyone for the awesome turnout with 17 new and exciting fan fiction entries to add to our library! I know I've enjoyed reading through them, and hope you will too.

As promised, the winner will receive a rare second beta stage key and the opportunity to come up with new user ranks, and voting will be done by your fellow forumers. So I invite everyone, whether you wrote an entry or not, to read through the entries and vote for your favorite.

Voting will continue for 48 hours, meaning that the winner may enter the beta a day or two late in favor of everyone being able to read all the entries before voting.

So with that said, go ahead and vote! :) All I ask is that you read through each entry before voting, and that you don't vote for yourself - votes are public, so we will know.

Entries listed in alphabetical order:

Actually, since we got a lot more entries than I participated, let's give second and third place a second stage key as well. :)

This is a tough choice. I'm going to have to take a second.

My top three are Miclee, Mikey, and Yami-Yagari. But....I have to go with Miclee. His having dwarves as the main characters was the extra plus for me.:D Great Job to all the people who submited. All of you stories are great and good luck.

Please pay no attention to the fact that Miclee voted for his own entry. He was responsible and apologized as he voted before seeing the rules.

Anyways, no harm done. The vote count has been reset to not count his vote, but he cannot revote.

Oh man what a great time to actually join when voting starts
and not enter the contest at all. I was going to join about a week ago but there was no point since i was busy. Anyways best of luck to the winner and to the contestants that tried.

Great entries everyone! This will be a tough call on who to vote for.

Well, to be honest, they weren't expecting people to vote for themselves. I mean, it sounds pretty obvious to me.

soo ami not allowed to vote now or something?

Yami-Yagari

well, the problem is that for you to be able to vote again, the entire poll has to be reset. So i don't know, but don't get your hopes up.

I think you're right, but it might be nice to see a bit more separation among the rest of the field. ;)

I find it sad that here we have 23 votes + 4 that voted for themselves and cant vote now, but there are entries that have just for example 16 views .... do the math.
Or am i looking something wrong?

Khan kreiger
07-19-2010, 06:37 PM
yeaa thats true i t would actually be nice if everyone voted but not that many people go online

Honestly, as long as the people who get beta keys actually do a decent job of testing/reporting bugs, typos, rendering issues, etc., rather than just taking the time to play a new game or to figure out their build for the future, I don't care who wins, who votes, etc. As long as the game is made better by the people who test, it's a win-win!

The winners of this competition have a bigger responsibility than those who are relegated to 3rd round beta keys, just because the later stages have fewer "omg, that's broken so badly" moments and more fine-tuning. So...if you win a key, please be a conscientious tester, not just a player. I'm sure someone tells you who to complain to and how, so be the squeaky wheel! :D
