I read in the unit descriptions that they could swim and I was wondering if when a ship goes down will the units swim away to land automatically or will they just die? Also, do you have to tell them where to swim? Finally, will cavalry, if the units on them die, still be your horses or will the other teams capture them?

Thanks

I think ships need that so there are pros and cons of using ships. may be faster but you will lose your army.

Considering that they're wearing about 50 pounds of armor somehow i doubt that most units could escape from a sinking ship.

archers would have difficulty with their bowstrings

It said they could swim though so maybe they go on the unrealistic side for this feature.

Your saying that an archer swimming is unrealistic dude wouldent the archer just put is bow on his back?

yes it would be the most realistic option the heavy troops will just sink like stones :p while the light troops will swim to the nearest beach.

Only certain units will be able to swim, heavily armored units wont be able to, but will be able to wade through shallow water.

After mounted units are killed, mounts can be captured by your enemies/allies, if they aren't captured they will remain yours.

Ok cool. I was worried for a second the game would be unrealistic.

Well you can't expect total realism in any game. Game play over realism is the way things tend to, and to be honest, should go. Unless of course they slapped, "The most realistic fantasy RTS ever made". Which would then be sort of funny, as you wield magic and what not.

Maybe you could send the archers back to the archery range and get them new bows for like 50 bucks or something, or they could become swordsmen.

yeah if that happened at Helm's Deep they would have been screwed within minutes ;) but I think it's too much realism to include that, though in rain power should be reduced

That ice thing reminds me of the King arthur movie, when they smash an axe in the ice and evryone falls down in to the water :p

That would make more sense making a spell to were u can turn the water into ice at the cost of mana/power. nice idea SvN

Yeah maybe if enemy units fall in the water it could freeze them alive. :p

Super Nova

or making it to were when an enemy mage/dragon shoots fire at the ice it melts causing ur units to fall into the boiling water and lose health over time as they are in the boiling water :D

I don't believe we have a spell for such, but I will put it in as a suggestion.

Actually boiling water isn't what's painful. It's condensing steam that's painful. It has to do with latent heat. Water actually absorbs energy out of its surrounding environments (cooling it off) when it vapourizes, but returns that energy when it condenses. As a result, condensing steam causes burns, but boiling water does not. Mind you, I still wouldn't prefer to be in boiling water, but I think the nearby fire spell would completely overshadow it.

how about a spell where a dragon can set flammable land on fire? i dont know if this has happened or he can chuck trees across rivers to walk across

I wouldn't go diving into big pool of 100 degree water, but I'll take it any day over being thrown directly onto what's heating the water.

Flammable terrain is cool; too bad BFME2 botched it up. I didn't know that snow was flammable <_<

Hey if it was hot enough it might be possible. Yeah they really screwed up with Drogoth the dragon.

On the bfme2 map editor you could make the ICE flammable. Go try it out, it's looks very... very... weird.
