So I played the first one and it was alright, still play it once in a blue moon whenever I need to get me Lotro on. I've heard a lot of mention of the sequel on these forums and how it could be similar in gameplay to DoF. So was wondering is it worth picking up? I read about the War of the Ring mode and was intrigued and was wondering if that could be played in multiplayer? If so would anyone waiting for DoF want to play a game? Anyways thought this would be a good place to ask about it.

meh, its okay, although I wouldn't recommend it, but nothing can compare to DoF *Bows down in worship*

It really is great, sometimes war of the ring is multiplayer but it is not as fun as it used to be. Also i returned the cd for cash:o Sry can't play with ya:rolleyes:

I liked BFME1 when I was younger, however when I got BFME2 and ROTWK I never really played it - I loved mapping for it, specialising in intricate detail and landscapes more than anything, so that when I got round to doing map.ini I made lots of files for hero powers but never finished any of them.

BFME 1 and 2 are totaly different, the first one is totaly different from most rts while the 2nd one came in and started following all the other rts' and athough lost some of its mojo still and awsome game.

I like bfme 1 most, of course bfme 2 is more fun in multiplayer then bfme 1 got the great stuff. I mean every game with possibility to walk on walls in a normal skirmish is worthy of highest decorations. (bfme 2 had to use un-walkable walls) Thats why games like rise and fall civilizations at war and the total war series are awesome:D (the walls don't necessarily need to be good looking or have some awesome mechanics, just a ladder or some stairs up then it is complete. No game without walkable walls is even worthy of being called strategy game. unless its a futuristic game:) )

Battle for Middle earth... RTS like game based in the Middle earth universe.

The sequel is excellent, with the right mods, and witch king addon.. :P Vanilla, not so good..

Take my advice, and don't even consider getting BfME2. It's ONLY good when you mod it HEAVILY.

Reasons:
-No more rohan:mad:
-No more walkable walls in non-fortress maps:mad:
-Faction uniqueness is non-existent
-stuffed up battalions
-Rock-paper-scissors is LAW
-plenty more
-"build anywhere" is not necessarily a good thing
-feels more like a LotR RTS game rather than an RTS LotR game

The ONLY thing BfME2 has on 1 is better graphics. Every time I try playing 2 I get bored within minutes.

As for the RotWK expansion, EA were INTENT on messing their game up:mad:

Seriously. BfME1 is WAY BETTER.

Not to be too off topic, but I'm re-installing RTW today.

BFME2 was an excellent game when modded. It was very good barebones, but not even near the top five RTS's i've played. With the appropreate mods, it suddently became one of my top five.

I like BFME2 better because you can actually place your structures anywhere which gets you to be more strategyitical(cant spell). It also lets you put walls up now for better defence rather then 8 towers around your base in BFME1

The 2nd is awful hands down, but I do enjoy LOTRO. I'm a junkie for that game. :D
