View Full Version : The big DoF contributions thread

LiTos456

Well, it's going to be big one day.
Anyway, this is the thread for anyone who wants to contribute to DoF in any way. A video put together from trailers, a fanart drawing pictured and inspired by Dawn of Fantasy, or perhaps even a 3D model - anything you made for DoF, share it here!
The reason I'm making this thread is because soon enough we'll need one, and also perhaps I'll be making some models for fun in some coming weeks just to post here. They don't even need to be textured, anything you made where you were influenced by Dawn of Fantasy, throw it in here!
So who'll be first? Let's get more contributions than comments, this company deserves them!

PS: As we get contributions I'll be updating this post with links and images so people can have a look at them right away.

I could contribute a drawing(s) or a model. The model would take longer than the drawing. I might even do drawings of each race.

Yes I did. I add more to the drawing yesterday and going to add more today. I'm going to do two more, one for the humans and one for the elves.

Well I never really took any drawing lessons, but even though I am self taught I think I can contribute a bit.

As some of you may remember, I won a key to the first closed beta with my entry to the "Create a Race" contest, which was the Kareetheans. (-Contest Thread-) (http://dofsource.com/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=39)

I present to you, the Kareethean Queen "Raika, the Seventh Witch"!, in her demon form (She sprouts the giant needles, wings and blades all over her body, which pretty much changes her posture).

A model of this would be very hard to make indeed, so I am guessing she probably won't make it as a mod.

Details

I outlined the small parts so they can be noticeable.
The things in the lower part of her thorax are her eggs.
All the gray spikes you see are actually blades sprouting from her.
Those weird things on the wings are actually holes and rips.

Very nice drawing, I might have to test my skills at drawing some sort of elf item.

Yours is also excellent Sneaky Squirrel.

very nice sneaky squirrel. Here is another update to my drawing. again comments are welcomed and I will shade it in hopefully today and I will start the elf pic today. I think for the elf I will just draw a single character.

Anyways I made 2 more drawings of other Kareetheans.

I now add the Kareeth larvae and the Raimak Spearman ;p.

That's awesome. I used the screenshots from the media fair and I couldn't find any close ups to the large orc. Now that I do I can improve it. thanks. this makes me want to model a small scene.

I don't see the catapult in the drawing, or whatever it is in the screen shot ;p.

Where did the catapult or whatever it is back there come from?

@U_Have_Krabs
You could easily add fingers to your elf, unless here is wearing gloves of course.

Joseph Visscher

What catapult? Maybe it is a quest item from the map, you have to hunt a massive Warg that attacked a group of Orcs moving around a old catapult. :P

Think about adding grass into your picture to add a 3D depth feeling to it, its hard to see where the crossbowman and swordsman is distance away from the ogre, with the screenshot you can see how far away they are due to the grass.

Henry Martin
01-13-2010, 09:50 PM
Mudbox is a 3d sculpting software just like zbrush (zbrush is more of the standard then mudbox). Its used to produce high poly models, either for making normal maps or cg quality models.

Only things I can come up with that might help:
The feet are weird, but I guess that's because you weren't finished with that yet. On the 3th pic, the upper side of his left hand looks a bit flat.

And that's about all I can find...

I will be adding some armor and and fur (a norse style) with a nice thick beard.

With this I didn't plan this out, I was using this to learn mudbox's tools, but I ended up liking it and I will continue it. I will do some concept art for the armor and see what I will do and maybe show it off if people want to see it?

Lol hmm i think once you have some clothes on him this issue will resolve itself. What style of clothes are you going to style on him.? scale, plate, chain etc. Would be intresting to know. Also what are the colour schemes. As most go for a earthen brass or possibly dull greys. Bright gold is always nice if you decide to make him a noble.

But aside from that good job :)

I think you can do 2 or three versions of him (if you want to ofcource). You can do a noble dwarf with a massive armour on. With lots of gold and silvers and brass on etc making it quite intricate/regal Although that wouldinvolve alot of work.

Secondly you could do a warrior class dwarf. With a heavy armour made of either plate or a mix of chain, sheet and plate armour. Which would reflect the forging skill of the dwarfs but still not be to intricate to apear to be a hero or noble. The reason i did not recomend scale is i always see it as common to the orc or darker sides of armour. being more desighned on reptiles etc.

And thirdly you could do a common class dwarf which may not need any armour at all but clothing instead. Possibly tunic etc or could be a militia unit where armour is made up of few but farbetween pieces of amour consisting mainly of sheet armour protecting just the important places and being on the large side unbelished. with no viewable effort into how it looks but only practicality.

hope that helps:)

I never can figure out why dwarves have been stereotyped as using axes - give him a mattock or mace. Still, even I can't picture a dwarf with a sword - maybe a dirk or something.

Have you played dragon age? You start off with a sword and shield with the noble origin and two swords in the commoner origin.

Its fits with the dwarves being small but powerful (berserker, barbarian) and most characters that are stereotyped "powerful" use large hammers, axes, etc. Plus it looks cool:p.

I don't know if it's to late or if this is a valid idea at all. It's really late so please don't down it to much if it's not good. I was thinking what about a type of sentry unit that can be sent into the terrain surrounding your stronghold in stealth to let you see if there are any incoming attacks. Maybe an idea for new races in expansions.

Henry Martin
04-20-2010, 09:09 PM
Really good drawing.

My two cents:

Yeah the background needs some work. Being nitpicky, the scale between the horse and elf could be larger. What I means is the horse seems too small compared to the elf. This is just being nitpicky others it really looks good.

Does she sketch a lot. I myself use too be good, but I stop drawing and it went to hell(if you look at some of my work in this thread you'll see what I mean).

Daermoth
04-20-2010, 09:28 PM
Yeah she does a lot of sketching, as for the elf, she said she always imagines them to be very tall, not sure how DoF depicts them, sometimes they're smaller than humans, sometimes taller in games/books/movies so yeah..either way, she might try to make her a tiny bit smaller.

i reckon you should only colour the unicorn and the archer so its like a light in the dark or the other way around so it looks cloaked
